Mandurah City beat Canning City and the weather to go clear second in the WA State League Division One race at Willeton sports complex on Saturday afternoon, with two goals in each half to beat the hosts 4-1.
In what can only be described as atrocious conditions with wind and rain threatening to turn a tightly fought contest into a farce, City took control early as Jordan Rhodes added another goal to his impressive tally after 15 minutes.
Rhodes latched on to a chested down ball from Craig Tone, back from a brief spell at Cockburn, to fire home from 20 metres.
Four minutes later Abe Tcuono cut in from the right to make it two, firing under a diving Canning goalkeeper at the near post.
Tcuono aded his second and City’s third five minutes into the second half before Canning pulled one back to keep there game in there balance.
But City were far from done, and Jeff Bright finished off the scoring to claim the points, finishing a clever move involving three players down the left flank.
