MCFC senior coaching staff met Junior and Senior presidents to confirm the schedule and links galvanising the junior and senior club for 2017 and beyond.

Doug Hesketh has committed to another campaign, he has Steve Robinson back alongside him as first team coach and Mick Lyons has committed also for 2017.

They all welcomed the appointment of the new MCFC Junior Technical Director, Neil Addison.

Doug confirmed Neil’s appointment was a massive plus for the club as it strives to produce competitive successful players and teams at every level. Neil is a very experienced coach with a strong proven knowledge of both Junior and Senior development. He will also have input to our Senior coaching setup, providing a clear link between Juniors and Seniors and a progression pathway for talented players throughout the club.

Discussing the appointments, Doug said “Having Mick back for another year is great. He provided the club with excellent support and knowledge last season and really made a difference to the dynamic of the senior squad. We are also delighted that Robbo has re-joined us as first team coach after a busy year last year off the pitch.”

“I believe that we must provide the players with the knowledge and variety of training required at this level, and with the combination of Robbo’s, Mick’s and my own input they will consistently get this. Jordan will stay on as 18’s coach and Simon Bell and Billy Lent will form two thirds of the reserves coaching team. This line up provides high quality coaching across the three Saturday teams as we push towards our goal of NPL promotion to make us the only club in the southern area with the NPL pathway from 12’s to First team. 2017 will be an exciting year for MCFC!”

Preseason dates will be announced in the next couple of weeks for 1st and reserves, possibly following the 18’s trials.

Neil Addison, TD, will finalise the Junior NPL coaches over the coming weeks and is keen to expand on the number of coaches and assistant coaches across the junior ranks.
